"This song was written just after my first carnival in Brazil. I was grateful for experiencing that moment where people go out to the streets to celebrate life through music for seven days straight.

I start by describing a Carnival morning in Rio de Janeiro with its bright colours and idyllic landscape, with the rhythm and instrumentation of samba; I wanted that roda de samba energy, where the band performs around a table and all the audience is experiencing the music in the round.

The song develops and arrives at a scene at Salvador's carnival, changing the rhythm into an afoxé, including instruments such as timbal and congas that traditionally belong to that style and region. I speak of the abundance and generosity of that city. A place where I have lived before and call home, where I have made friends for life. The track also features brilliant flute player Ruta Sipola whom I recorded at my home studio in London. Her flute brings the sunshine in"
